As a therapist, I have had the privilege of walking with many clients who have been victims of various types of violence. Over and again, I have witnessed these same clients choosing courage alongside vulnerabilityβrescripting their narratives as a survivor, no longer answering to their past. I see therapy as a way for clients to align and realign behaviors and thoughts with their core values. This takes hard work. This takes courage. This is why I believe that courage and vulnerability go hand-in-hand.
I am committed to walk alongside my clients as they each come in with their unique story and make decisions that lead towards more meaningful living. I will often use a mix of CBT, DBT and strength-based approaches. I value therapy leading to practical changes in life and may talk about tangible "therapy skills" that clients can take into their daily lives. The counseling sessions will center around the needs of the client, which means that there will be flexibility and careful consideration around how the sessions will be structured.
My areas of interest include:
PTSD and Trauma-related Mental Health
Interpersonal, Domestic & Sexual Violence
Self-Harm Behaviours and Suicide
Depression
Anxiety & Stress Management
Life Changes & Loss
TCK/MK
Facilitating workshops for adolescents & adults
When I am not in the therapy room, I like to eat good food with my husband (the spicier the better), run races (so far, the Rice Paddy Race has been my favorite) and moto around. Owning and riding my own scooter has been somewhat of a dream of mine and I still get excited when I drive around on my Scoopy.
