Hello there! I’m Channan, a psychologist in Sombok Psychology. I am passionate about working with diverse clients, including children, teenagers, and adults to help them overcome their mental health difficulties. I am particularly interested in working with clients who have experienced traumatic events. In my experience working as a therapist in Cambodia, I can see that seeking help for mental health support is very important.

I believe that seeking counseling is a sign of strength and I am passionate about reducing the stigma around mental health. My therapy style is empathetic, supportive, and empowering. I also value trustworthiness and practice within the ethics of professional counselling. I utilize client-centred and strengths-based approaches to mobilize client resources and apply techniques such as relaxation, breathing exercises, psychoeducation, and art therapy to improve mental well-being. One of my favourite approaches is Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), which I believe helps people understand how to have healthier thinking patterns.

My goal in working with clients is to ensure they are safe to talk, identify their strengths, understand themselves, explore their story and find out their goals. I am here to guide you to overcome life’s challenges.

  • Resiliency building and self-confidence

  • Child development

When I am not in a therapy room, I enjoy travelling to explore different cultures and hiking is one of my favourite things to do. I love to read books on the weekend and enjoy drinking coffee and talking with friends. I prioritise self-care every day. I like to exercise, eat healthy food and feel gratitude for the happy moments in my day. I also enjoy playing with dogs.
